Decimal to Percent

A percent is another way to represent a part of a whole. One percent means 1 part of 100. One hundred percent means the entire whole. A percent that is greater than 100 means more than the entire whole. Percents are used to express proportions, financial data, probabilities, etc.
To convert a decimal to a percent, multiply the decimal by 100. For example:
decimal = 0.5
percent = 0.5 × 100 = 50
To convert a percent to a decimal, divide the percent by 100. For example:
percent = 25
decimal = 25 ÷ 100 = 0.25
